Paris, France Paris is the capital city of France in western Europe. It is the largest city within the country and home to nearly 10 million people within its urban area. The city is located along the river Seine and is one of Europe's most popular tourist hotspots, and is renowned as a city of love and romance. As with most large cities, Paris is split between grand, modern and functional tourist areas, but still has some lower standard suburbs and residential areas. It is definitely worth sticking to the main tourist areas to experience this magnificent city at its best. Probably Paris' most notable tourist attraction is the Eiffel Tower in the west of the city, which is in relatively close proximity (within 10 miles) to the sites of the Arc Du Triumph, the Champs-Élysées, the Louvre Museum, and the cathedral of Notre Dame.
Paris is well served by a efficient Metro system, and a good bus network. Easy access is provided from the rest of Europe by train and road, and internationally by air with two major airports - Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly. Flights are provided by many of the major airlines with British Airways and Air France running regular flights in and out of the city. Paris copes well with tourists - there is an abundance of restaurants and bars around the main tourist areas, and many locals speak good English. Beware that the city is famous for its high prices and it's not uncommon to find a bottle of beer priced at 4-5 Euros, but the majority of food and drink available will be of a high standard as with much of France!
