Winchcombe, United Kingdom

Winchcombe is a small town in the heart of the Cotswolds, seven miles north east of Cheltenham. It has lots of history and in 1007 was part of the county of Mercia and then Winchcombeshire.

Just to the east of the town is Sudeley Castle and a few miles to the north is Hailes Abbey.

Winchcombe Pottery is close to Winchcombe Station which is on the G.W.R Railway Line, running between Toddington and Cheltenham Racecourse - the home of the National Hunt Horse Racing Festival.

Winchcombe is home to many interesting shops and pubs, including the White Hart, and the Corner Cupboard. The town itself is filled with beautiful buildings constructed from pale Cotswold stone, and is located in a magnificently picturesque part of England. Despite its idyllic location, Winchcombe is still easy to get to and has good road connections to the motorway network, as well as nearby Cheltenham.

If you fancy a game of golf, go to Cleeve Hill, where the course is located on the highest point of the Cotswolds.

Close to Winchcombe are Cheltenham, Bourton on the Water, Stow on the Wold and Tewkesbury. Click here for pictures.
